About this course

Your Health & Safety Rep is a valuable part of your company's Internal Responsibility System. This training is designed for new Health and Safety Reps, Supervisors, and small business owners that regularly employ between 5 and 19 workers. 

Training is absolutely essential for any worker appointed to this position. Following the completion of this course, the student will be able to better understand their roles and responsibilities as a Health and Safety Rep including:
  • Find and understand information within the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Identify the roles and responsibilities of workers, supervisors and employers
  • Plan, prepare for and execute effective workplace inspections
  • Identify hazardous conditions within the workplace
  • Report and make recommendations regarding identified hazards
  • Follow up on the effectiveness of completed recommendations and implemented controls
  • Prepare for and participate in effective incident investigations
  • Participate in the Refusal to Work process
