TIME
CLASS: 19.5 hours over three consecutive days 
  • DAY 1: Duties, Responsibilities, Functions
  • DAY 2: Workplace Hazards
  • Day 3: Inspections, Hazard Assessment and Incident Investigation 
COST
  • ​​​6-10 Participants: $4750.00/session
  • 11-15 Participants: $5700.00/session

About this course

If your company employs 20 or more employees you are required to have a Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC). Every Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) must have at least two Certified members: one representing workers, and one from management. One worker and one management designated JHSC member must complete Part One and Part Two of the Training to maintain active status.

​This training also meets The Labour Code requirements for Workplace Health and Safety Committees.
Who Should Take the Course? 
​Health and Safety Committee Members (including both worker and management representatives), Supervisors, Health and Safety Managers. Every effort will be made to ensure the objectives of the course will appeal to the most diverse audience possible.


​Through engaging instruction, group work and class participation you will learn to become an effective certified member, ready to contribute to the promotion of workplace safety, assist in the identification and control of hazards, and participate in workplace inspections and accident investigations.

  • Find and understand information within the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Identify the roles and responsibilities of workers, supervisors and employers
  • Plan, prepare for and execute effective workplace inspections
  • Identify hazardous conditions within the workplace
  • Report and make recommendations regarding identified hazards
  • Follow up on the effectiveness of completed recommendations and implemented controls
  • Prepare for and participate in effective incident investigations
  • Participate in the Refusal to Work process

  • Identifying Hazard & Risk 
  • Workplace Hazards: An introduction to common hazards that can be found in many workplace sectors 
  • Chemical, Biological, Physical, Safety, Ergonomic, Psychosocial  ​
DAY 3
  • Workplace Inspections 
  • Performing Hazard Assessments
  • Using PEMEP, RACE, Hierarchy of Control 
  • Hazard Control Programs 
  • Safety Program Evaluations 
  • Incident Investigations ​
